I Lajong Guest House, Mawlynnong

Visited in August 2017

We stayed in bamboo cottage of I Lajong guest house which could accommodate 4 adults as the same have two small bed rooms (two beds in one room). Since its a cottage so it also have dining area along with bathrooms.

Although the cottage is in a village but have everything of need like geyser, dining table with chairs, bed, side table, both toilets Indian and western.

We had an awesome stay at this place, the owner herself prepared tasty home made dinner for us which included chawal, dal, bhindi ki sabzi, aloo ki sabzi, spicy chutny and salad. Maggie was our next day morning breakfast along with tea.

Dinner at the Guest House

It’s a treat to get home made food when you are away from home for more that 1 or 2 days.

We also had a small but nice chat with the lady, the owner. She is a sweet and humble person.

Guest house complex is well maintained with variety of plants and a small pond (not for swimming) near owners house.

Guest house also owns a tree house for a view of Bangladesh. And since we were staying at the guest house it was free of cost for us, for others thay have an entry fee of INR 20 per head.

Entry to Try House

The tree house is well constructed and a good attraction for visitors. We climbed and visited this attraction and found it to be nice with a good aerial view of near by place.

Tree House

The property have more rooms other than bamboo cottage.

Just a suggestion to the owners to have more variety in their breakfast as they only have Maggie for breakfast.  Many people including my father does not eat Maggie.

I would really suggest this place to the people visiting Mawlynnong as the place is naturally beautiful and have almost everything of need. Please note bamboo cottage is not for luxury traveler as it is a small property.

Hotel Rains Inn, Guwahati

Stayed in August 2017

Me and my family really liked this hotel from its ambiance to its service and to its food. The entrance of the hotel in itself is impressive, and easy check-in adds to the comfort.

Although this is a small property but very well maintained. The hotel also have a lift (this is definitely my priority whenever I am traveling with my elderly parents) which is a plus point. Also the interior of hotel added to its beauty. The reception area have sufficient seating space with a small room for travel desk to help you with your travel related query and booking.

We even checked out and kept our luggage in the cloak room as we had to travel to Cherrapunji the same day.

The hotel is located in paltan bazaar (solapara road) but in a lane, which keeps you away from the noise but still at the center point of the city.

Would definitely suggest this hotel to people traveling to Guwahati and need a place to stay.

Darshan

There are three ways of doing darshan at the temple:

1) Darshan while going through general line which could take 3-4 hours for darshan

2) Darshan with darshan pass of INR 501 per person available at the counter near temple. This will take  around 1 hour (subject to people in line).

3) Darshan with panda, in this case panda will help you with the rituals and will take your offering to the main sanctum and offer it to the goddess.

Reviews:

The temple is on hill, we reached the place by cab and after 5-10 minutes of walk we were at the stairs of the temple, one has to go through some stairs for reaching temple entry gate. There were various stalls on  the way to temple.

Since this is one of the shakti peetha hence large number of devotees visit this temple. If you are opting for darshan pass then purchase pass from the counter as soon the same opens because the counter closes after certain time and re-opens in the second half (around 2 pm). Various pandas are also available in temple complex.

Temple premise is huge with sufficient place for sitting and separate place for lighting diya and agarbatti. One could see goats and birds in temple as people offer them to goddess.

The architecture of temple is beautiful.
